Dallas, TX GCi Technologies has received full approval from Allegro MicroSystems, the wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Sanken Electric Company, a Japanese manufacturer of power and optical semiconductors and switch mode power supplies (SMPS); for its magnetics components which are specified in their SMPS reference designs. These reference designs will be used in conjunction with Allegro's new STR-A61xx and STR-W67xx series Power ICs.
The STR-A61xx series are PRC topology ICs (on-pulse-width control with fixed off-time at 8?s) designed for relatively low output power, low profile SMPS designs. These devices are capable of an output power up to 20W at a universal input of 24W @ 230 VAC input. This DIP-8 package design utilizes Sanken's proprietary high-voltage BCD processes and power MOSFETs, thus resulting in decreased external component count and simplified circuit design. The benefit of all of this is a downsized, cost reduced power supply.
The STR-W67xx series are hybrid integrated circuits (HICs) with built-in power MOSFET and a control IC designed for quasi-resonant type switch-mode power supplies. These Power IC's have an output power up to 140W at universal input, or 240W at 230 VAC input. Under normal operation conditions, these devices provide high efficiency and lower EMI noise with bottom-skip quasi-resonant operation during light output loads than conventional PWM solutions. This is supplied in a 7 pin package with pin 2 deleted, thus allowing downsizing and standardization of an SMPS by reducing external component count and simplifying circuit design.
GCi Technologies' G054113 and G054112, 50W and 5W power transformers are designed-in on the SMPS for Allegro MicroSystems' STR -A61xx series and STR-W67xx series Power ICs. They feature a very low electromagnetic interference in a thru-hole package, measuring 27.3 x 30.7 mm and 17.5 x 14.5 mm respectively, and provide 1KV high voltage isolation to protect the operator from electrical shock. GCi Technologies backs these transformers with 100 percent in-line testing, full performance certification, and guaranteed conformance. |
